A double-dip of weekend action in Tulare, California kicked off Friday for Craig Dollansky and the Eyecon Trail Cameras #7 team as they laid eyes on Thunderbowl Raceway.  Following a runner-up performance during last year’s event, Friday marked the 15th appearance for ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ at the 1/3-mile dating back to 2004.

Set to go on a warm, sunny day in central California, 32 drivers signed into the pit area.  After getting a feel for the car in hotlaps, an early draw for qualifying saw the MobileStar Maxim stop the clock 14th fastest at 13.275 seconds.  In heat race action Dollansky powered into the lead from the pole and led all 8 laps to secure a spot in the dash.  Lining up inside row five for the dash, the Elk River, Minnesota native bettered his starting position for the main event by one row finishing 7th in the 6-lap event.

In the 35-lap feature the Aggressive Hydraulics backed sprinter took the green from inside row four.  Unfortunately the powerplant under the hood of the #7 dropped a cylinder in the early going but Dollansky continued to work the lowside in turns 1 & 2 and around the paper-thin cushion up against the wall in turns 3 & 4 until holding eighth before a red flag with 7 laps complete.  With a treacherous turn one affecting many drivers all night long, single-file restarts were instilled as the A-Main resumed.

Following a pair of stoppages seven circuits later, the remainder of the main event stayed ‘clean and green’ as the Eaton’s Aeroquip Performance Products #7 ran eighth shortly after the halfway point.  Continuing to duel on only seven cylinders, rubber down in turn 4 with seven laps remaining made passing more difficult but Dollansky was able to work around Jonathan Allard in the final laps and take the checker flag in 7th.

Racing action for the Eyecon Trail Cameras #7 team resumes tonight at Thunderbowl Raceway.
