In action at the Williams Grove Speedway and Port Royal Speedway over the weekend, Lance Dewease and his Heffner Racing team showed decent speed as they tallied seventh place finishes at both venues.

“Though the results are not right where we want them to be yet, this past weekend we had pretty strong racecars, and continue to move in the right direction,” Dewease said.

Friday night saw the Lelands.com/Conduit Connections/Pasquirellos No.27 check in for a rare time trial show at the Williams Grove Speedway. With qualifying being a struggle for Dewease as of late, the Fayetteville, PA driver put in the third quickest lap of the night.

Starting fourth in the feature event, on the track that was providing great racing action, Dewease flew around the speedway as he worked his way up into the second spot, as he hooked up in an entertaining battle with Rick Lafferty.

As the race wore on, Dewease sealed up his tires, and began to lose several positions in the closing laps, and slid back to a seventh place finish.

“We were a really good car at ‘The Grove’, but unfortunately the tires got away from me while we were in third,” he said. “The guys have really been doing their homework, and though it was a seventh, we will take the positives from it.”

Saturday night the team headed to the Port Royal Speedway looking to build off of what they learned on Friday night.

Starting 13th in the feature, Dewease was poised to get his elbows up and climb to the front.

In what would be a nearly non-stop affair, Dewease had a very strong car, as he was on the move as soon as the green flag dropped.

Prowling on the high side, Dewease was able to climb inside the top-10 by the eighth lap, as he continued to work forward.

In the closing laps, Dewease continued his battle with Lafferty from the night before, as he got past him and took the seventh spot, and closed his weekend out with his consecutive seventh place finishes.

“It’s tough to make up ground at Port when the race goes nearly non-stop like that. We kind of got strung out, but I was pleased we were able to move forward, and get a top-10 out of it coming from the back like that.”
