For the second year in a row, Hanford, CA native Chad Boespflug is excited to head home for the Labor Day Weekend to compete in a pair of events in his native California, The Louie Vermeil Classic in Calistoga, CA, and the USAC event on Thursday night at the Gold Cup Race of Champion in Chico, CA.

“I am very excited to be heading home to California for a few days,” he said. “I ran these two events last year, and had a blast, and really did all I could to find a ride to make sure I could return.”

Boespflug will team up with long time car owner, Dave Vertullo, and pilot the Vertullo/Pierson, A.R.T./CSI/Starr Property Management backed entry for both events.

“I can’t thank Dave Vertullo and his family enough for this chance,” he said. “I know he has great equipment, and this car won a handful of non-wing races last year, so I’m really hoping to grab him a couple more.”

Boespflug is in the midst of a career summer as he has pocketed six wins in Indiana, including his first career USAC National Sprint win, and hopes to add to that total in California.

“Last year I was fortunate enough to team with Dustin Baxter and ran second and fourth at Calistoga,” Boespflug said. “And at Chico, I ran battled with Kyle Larson for a while before slipping back to sixth, so I am really looking forward to getting out West for a few days.”

Boespflug will compete in the two events in California, before jetting back to Indiana on Friday to continue his season back in Indiana.

“It will be a busy week, but I am very excited for it, and thankful for all of my opportunities,” he added.

Other sponsors on the Vertullo/Pierson No. 14 for the weekend include, Butlerbuilt, Bell Helmets, Hinchman Indy, and Midwest Shades.
