Reidy Seventh at PCR

By Daniel Powell

After starting from deep in the field a seventh place finish was a satisfying feature race result for Danny Reidy last Saturday night at Parramatta City Raceway (PCR).

Fresh from his outstanding second place during the World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship round at PCR the weekend before; Reidy was aiming to go one better but unfortunately things didn’t pan out that way.

Reidy continued his good qualifying form by time trialling in second at the beginning of the night but all that hard work came undone after he missed the top five feature race transfer spot during his heat race and consequently had to run the B-main in order to make the feature race field.

After starting from pole position in the B-main Reidy made easy work of the field and took out a comprehensive victory and therefore booked a transfer spot into the feature race field.

Starting the feature race from position 17 in the field Reidy was able to work his way forward and end up seventh place at the finish.

“Considering where we started from in the feature race our end result wasn’t too bad,” Reidy commented. “We paid the ultimate price for missing the transfer spot during our heat race and when you do that it really messes up your night. We persisted with the highline for most of the feature race and we made it work and ended up moving forward before we ran out of laps.”

Reidy now heads over to Speedway City (Adelaide, SA) for the fourth round of the WSS Championship on Boxing Night (December 26) which doubles as the opening round of the Speedweek Series.

Currently sitting fourth in the WSS Championship Reidy is aiming to continue the strong he has made to his 09/10 season campaign.

“We are only 10 points off the WSS Championship lead and this is without a doubt our strongest start to the season we’ve ever made,” Reidy said. “The Speedweek Series either makes or breaks your WSS Championship and my goal is to just remain consistent. If I can finish amongst the Top 10 in the feature races as possible and that’ll hopefully keep me in WSS Championship contention.”

Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort – Alice Springs, Baines Engines, Gonzo Racing Pipes, Camden Neon Signs and P & M Motor Body Repairs for all their ongoing support in the 09/10 season.
