The Sprintcar and Midget open wheel double header at Titan Garages Brisbane International Speedway (BIS) on Saturday night March 20 was unfortunately brought to an early end by a series of small rain showers that passed through the area just after the first round of qualifying Heat races were completed.
Although the rain was not heavy, it was consistent enough to prevent BIS Promoter and track curator John Kelly getting the track back into a condition suitable for racing. After a lengthy delay waiting for a break in the weather and a number of laps in the grader, a group of Sprintcar competitors including Qld Speedway Spares Series point leader Peter Thorley ventured out onto the track but it was to no avail. Having difficulty just starting the cars in the conditions let alone getting the track suitable to race on and with the forecast of another series of showers on the way, Kelly was left with no alternative other than to abandon the meeting.
Patrons with tickets purchased from the March 20 event may use them for any one of the next four events at BIS, subject to variations in the ticket prices.
The next event at Titan Garages Brisbane International Speedway will be Saturday March 27 featuring V8 Dirt Modifieds, Litre Sprints, AMCA Nationals, Limited Sprints, ASCF Junior Sedans, Sigmas and Dwarf Cars.
