Camargo, IL (4-5-2010) – There
is no doubt that spring is in the air. All the signs are here- flowers are
beginning to bloom, temperatures are steadily climbing, and last but not
least, the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions are ready for the HD
Supply Spring Nationals. This weekend the series will be making the trek to
Attica Raceway Park for the Spring Nationals for $3,000 on the line Friday,
April 9 and Saturday night, April 10, the racers will be fighting for a
$5,000 prize.
The first Spring Nationals at Attica Raceway Park were in 1992 and both
nights were swept by Frankie Kerr. In 28 Spring National races, Frankie
Kerr has the most wins with four; he is followed in the record books by
Greg Wilson and Dale Blaney who has three wins to their credit, and Mark
Keegan, Danny Smith and Chad Kemenah who each have two victories to their
credit.
Last year after having the first night washed out due to rain, the wait was
worthwhile. Early in the race Tim Shaffer and Rob Chaney would fight for
the lead. Starting from the sixteenth spot, it was Dale Blaney who was on
the move. By the half way point of the race, he had made his charge into
the top-five and was continuing to climb. With the green flag out and
Shaffer marred in lapped traffic, Blaney picked off position after position
until he was in a battle for the lead. Coming to the white flag, Blaney
would duck under Shaffer in turn 4 to take the lead. Blaney would go on to
lead the final circuit of the track and take the win with, Shaffer, Greg
Wilson, Chad Kemenah, and Lee Jacobs rounding out the top-five.
Going to battle on the 1/3 mile banked oval this weekend will be the All
Stars of Tim Shaffer, Greg Wilson, Dale Blaney, David Gravel, Bill Rose,
Cap Henry, Jared Ridge, along with special guest Jessica Zemken and many
more! As they face off who will contend for the victory? Track regulars and
the All Stars ready for battle, as it promises to be another sprint
showdown in the Buckeye State.
