Tony Hunt’s USAC AMSOIL Western Sprint Car point lead stands at 16 points over JoJo Helberg following Saturday night’s 40-lap race at Stockton (Calif.) 99 Speedway, won by Kody Swanson. Hunt finished second and Helberg fifth.
Swanson, of Kingsburg, Calif., passed Shauna Hogg on lap 13 and led the final 28 laps to win at Stockton in his Harvest Supply Beast/Chevy. Lady driver Shauna Hogg led the first 12 laps and finished third ahead of fast qualifier Scott Pierovich and Helberg.
The series heads for All American Speedway in Roseville, Calif. May 15, a track where Hunt won in April and posted a win and a second in 2009 action.
The Swanson family has a storied past at Roseville. Tanner won three times there last year and Kody won once. Tanner also won there in 2008
