From J&J
McKENZIE, TN (May 6) – Phil Gressman, Cole Duncan and Robbie Farr continued J&J Auto Racing’s recent success claiming Sprint car feature wins in Ohio and Australia last weekend.
ATTICA RACEWAY PARK
Gressman started the 30-lap feature event on the outside of the front row. He raced the No. 53 Genzman Enterprises, Level Performance J&J into the lead early only to have Craig Mintz storm by on lap 11. The two exchanged the lead several times during the next few laps before Gressman seized control on lap 15. A caution on lap 21 allowed Brock Mayes (No. 11 J&J) a chance to work on Gressman for the lead. On lap 23, he used a slider to take the top spot from Gressman, who took the lead back the following lap. Mayes wasn’t done and again used a slide job to take the lead on lap 26 and 27. Gressman returned to the post with a slide job of his own on lap 28 and he held on during the final two laps of the race to capture his fifth career win at the 1/3-mile dirt oval.
“That’s what you people spend your hard-earned dollars to see…a race like that,” admitted Gressman to the crowd following the race. “I kept searching around for a place on the track and every time I did someone was there to slide up in front of me. That was as an exciting, fun race as I’ve battled in for a long time. I have to thank Dee and Marilyn Genzman for everything they’ve done for me and my crew, Bill and Jamie and my dad…they have worked their tails off. I told them we have passed a lot of cars this year and if we ever get to start up front we’ll have something for them.”
Mayes ultimately finished third and was joined in the top-10 by Lee Jacobs in
the Hammer No. 24h J&J.
SKYLINE SPEEDWAY
Cole Duncan was victorious on Friday night at Skyline Speedway in the Ohio Valley Sprint Car Association 25-lap Feature event. Duncan drove the No. 53 J&J and out-dueled Danny Smith to score the win.
BRISBANE INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY
Robbie Farr scored a pair of wins in the No. 7q J&J competing in the East Coast Pipelines Qld Sprintcar Title at Titan Garages Brisbane International Speedway this past weekend. Bryan Mann drove the Performance Wholesale Motorsport No.16 Capalaba Wreckers/Qld Speedway Spares J&J to a fourth place finish in the finale.
Other solid finishes –
Teenage sensation Aaron Ott continued his early season success by leading the first 24 laps of Saturday night’s All-Star Circuit of Champions 30-lap feature
event at Lincoln Speedway in Pennsylvania. Ott drove his familiar No. 25 Ott powered J&J from his outside front row starting position and led the early
portion of the race fighting off challenges from Kerry Madsen. A caution on lap 17 allowed him to keep the lead and when Madsen spun on lap 24, his progress was slowed again. He was overtaken on the ensuing restart, but held on to finish second. Defending All-Star Circuit of Champions titles Tim Shaffer raced the CH
Motorsports No. 83 Kistler-powered J&J to a sixth place finish, just ahead of Cory Haas in the No. 11c J&J…..Skip Jackson had a strong start to his 2010
United States Sprint car season racing the No. 2 J&S Racing Shaver powered J&J from the ninth starting spot to finish second in Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway’s
season opening feature event.
