Dalton Armstrong takes a 52-point lead over Dillon Welch into a July 29 USAC Regional Midget race at Plymouth (Ind.) Speedway.
Armstrong, of New Castle, Ind., led the final 38 laps of Wednesday night’s “Mack McClellan Night” USAC Regional Midget race at the Indianapolis Speedrome and ended up as the 2010 Speedrome Regional Midget Champ. Armstrong took the lead when Kyle Hamilton dropped out on lap 13 and led the rest of the way in his C & A Motorsports Beast/Mopar. Dillon Welch finished second ahead of Shannon McIntosh, Chris Phillips and Buddy Lowther.
Alison MacLeod won last year’s USAC Regional Midget race at Plymouth.
Armstrong’s 2010 Regional Midget record is impressive, with four wins, three seconds, a third and a fourth in his nine starts! Welch has two wins, two seconds, a third and two fourths.
