ELBRIDGE, NY (July 24, 2010)- What was supposed to be two full nights of terrific sprint car competition resulted in just a time trial session and three heat races.
The 1st Annual Fast Track Summer Shootout at Rolling Wheels was cancelled as intermittent showers turned into steady rain and eventually a heavy downpour with just three of five heat races in the record books.
Group time trials were conducted with Josh Weller atop the board at an impressive 17.795 second lap around the 5/8-mile. Steve Poirier, the most recent ASCS Patriot winner, was second, with five time 2009 winner Trevor Lewis third. Three-time Patriot Champion Bryan Howland was fourth.
Blake Breen scored the win in heat one, Justin Barger captured heat two, and Trevor Lewis took home the third event, which was called after seven laps.
This race will not be resumed, but pit bands may be used for the next challenge event on October 8 at Cayuga County Fair Speedway.
