From Lonnie Wheatley, BEAUMONT, Texas (August 20, 2010) – Jason Johnson picked off his tenth overall American Sprint Car Series feature win of the year by wiring the field in Friday night’s 25-lap ASCS Gulf South main event at Golden Triangle Raceway Park.
Johnson gunned into the lead from the outside front row starting position and led all the way aboard the Don Ott-powered Haynes No. 41 Maxim for his fourth ASCS Gulf South triumph of the season.
Johnson took the checkered flag ahead of fellow Lucas Oil ASCS National contender Channin Tankersley, with Gary Wright climbing from 15th to take the show position after apparent third-place finisher Michael Dupuy was disqualified when his nose wing was discovered to be too far forward in post race inspection.
Greg Rilat returned to action with a fourth place finish, with current ASCS Gulf South points leader Ray Allen Kulhanek rounding out the top five. Brandon Berryman was sixth, with Aaron Reutzel, pole starter Wes Miller, Skip Wilson and Bean Elliott completing the top ten.
Logan Bledsoe, Berryman, Johnson and Beau Smith topped heat race action for the 27-car field, with Wright winning the “B” Main.
