USAC Mopar Western Midget point leaders Cory Kruseman, Alex Schutte and Robby Josett will resume their battle for the 2010 championship October 16 when the series competes at the Ventura (Calif.) Raceway. Two of the three scored feature wins last weekend in the 3rd Annual “Louis Vermeil Classic” events at the Napa County Fairgrounds in Calistoga, Calif.
Josett, of Agua Dulce, Calif., won Saturday night’s 25-lapper, beating series point leader Kruseman to the checkered flag. Cody Swanson finished third ahead of Randi Pankratz and Josh Ford. Josett led the first five and the last 17 laps in his Simpson/JHC Spike/Esslinger Ford, while Schutte led laps 6-8.
Kruseman, of Ventura, strengthened his bid for the 2010 title Sunday night, winning the 25-lapper. He led the first two laps and the last three for the win over Schutte, who led the 20 laps in between. Scott Pierovich took third ahead of Pankratz and Jake Swanson.
Kruseman’s point lead now stands at 17 over Schutte, with Josett 49 back of the leader entering the Ventura race.
