VANCOUVER, Wash. – The IXL Metal Conditioner NorthWest Wingless Tour will return to Grays Harbor Raceway this Saturday night, making their fourth and final appearance of the season at the Elma, Wash. facility.
Sponsorship from IXL Metal Conditioner and Herz Precision Parts, two of the NWWT’s strongest supporters since its inception in 2009, has helped enhance the purse for Saturday’s event, which will pay $1,200 to win.
Hillsboro, Ore.’s Theo McCarty takes a 36-point lead over Vancouver, Wash.’s Mike Romig into this Saturday’s event, which is one of two remaining for the IXL Metal Conditioner NorthWest Wingless Tour. McCarty has yet to score a main event victory this season, but consistency throughout the season has propelled him to the top of the point standings as he has finished in the Top 10 in every event except one this season, including a second place finish at Willamette Speedway on July 30th.
Romig, who has laps in June’s main event at Grays Harbor Raceway, has two events remaining in the 2010 NWWT season to reel in McCarty.
The NWWT field will again face a stout field of local competitors who have shown they can race without the wings. All prior NWWT events at Grays Harbor Raceway have been won by drivers who regularly race with the wings. Tacoma, Wash.’s Shawn Rice was the winner of the last NWWT event, which took place on September 4th, and again is considered one of the favorites this Saturday.
After this Saturday’s event at Grays Harbor Raceway, the IXL Metal Conditioner NorthWest Wingless Tour will conclude its second season on Saturday, October 9th at Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Ore.
