FAST Series Banquet to Honor Reed and Brubaker on October 23rd

MAUMEE, OHIO (10-10-10)

Now that the 2010 season is behind us, the only thing left to do is divide up more than $60,000 in cash and prizes at the 2nd Annual Fremont/Attica Sprint Title Party & Awards Banquet that will be held on Saturday, October 23rd at the American Legion Hall in Fremont, Ohio (2000 Buckland Ave). The prizes will be distributed amongst the 410 and 305 sprint car drivers who compete at Fremont Speedway and Attica Raceway Park for their share of the Fremont/Attica Sprint Title (F.A.S.T.) point fund. The FAST organization has already handed out $1200 worth of contingency prizes at every FAST event in 2010 for a total of $21,600 over 18 events. An additional $20,000 in contingency prizes will be distributed at the banquet in addition to the cash awards.

This season, through the help and support of Kistler Racing Products, KS Sales & Service, Design Graphics Group Inc, SRP Pistons, and all of our great cash and contingency sponsors, nearly $30,000 in cash will be distributed to the Top 10 in the 410 sprint division. Fremont Speedway and Attica Raceway Park also contributed large sums of cash to both the 410 and 305 point funds as a way to help give something back to these drivers at the end of the season in support of the FAST Series concept. This cash is in addition to each track’s individual point fund.

The winner’s share is going to Byron Reed who will be presented with a $10,000 check for his stand-out season along with several other contingency prizes and the coveted Kistler Cup Trophy – one of the most unique trophies in sprint car racing. The 305 champ, Stuart Brubaker, will walk away with a $1,000 check, a new Triple X Race Co chassis, and a $500 certificate from All Pro Heads. Kear’s Speed Shop and Cleveland Golf stepped up to the plate in 2010 to help launch the FAST 305 Championship Series. The Kear’s Speedshop FAST Cash bonus was also implemented where the Top 3 finishers in each event were eligible for a random draw for an extra $100 in cash in victory lane. With two rained out events, the $200 from those nights will be given away by random drawing at the FAST banquet to two drivers who have not already received a bonus in 2010.

This casual outing is intended to bring fans, drivers and sponsors under one roof to recount the season and to crown the 2010 Kistler Racing Products FAST Champion and the FAST 305 Champion. For just $10.00 at the door, guests will be able to enjoy a meal and the entertainment of acoustic guitarist/vocalist Mel Burns of the band Remembering Venice. Doors will open at 6 pm with a meal served at 7pm before the awards ceremony. Mark your calendars today as drivers in the Top 10 must attend in order to claim their share of the point fund. The event will be FREE to car owners and drivers finishing in the Top-10 in both the Kistler Racing Products FAST Championship Series and the FAST 305 Championship Series. All of the sponsors contributing to the FAST point fund will also receive free admission to this event. This awards ceremony is mandatory for drivers to collect their prizes and earnings from FAST on Dirt, Inc. (Note: Josh Muntz is getting married on Oct. 23rd and is excused from this event.)

The 2010 season was a great year for both divisions. Outside of the dominant performance of Byron Reed in the 410 points race, the battle for 2nd through 10th was exciting to watch throughout the second half of the season. Shawn Valenti drove away with the Cub Cadet FAST Rookie of the Year title presented by KS Sales & Service. The 305 sprint division proved that the FAST point system is solid as the Top 7 guys were within striking distance on the final points night with a slim 16 point margin between 1st and 7th place. It was anyone’s championship to win, but Mother Nature put a damper on the excitement and Stuart Brubaker walked away from doing his rain dance with a FAST Championship title by just 1 point over DJ Foos.

The FAST Series wants to congratulate all the drivers who competed in both divisions all season long. Without the dedication of the teams and drivers, there would be no FAST Championship Series. FAST was started by fans to give back to the teams who put on an entertaining show every weekend. The future of FAST holds bigger and better things as more fans and sponsors get involved and our goal is to keep things exciting and fresh in the future. Look for some changes coming in 2011 as we look for ways to improve and increase the level of competition at our local tracks.
