Fremont Honors Champions, Announces World of Outlaws Date for 2011

FREMONT, Ohio – Craig Mintz (410 sprints, Stuart Brubaker (305 sprints) and Steve Sabo (dirt trucks) were honored as the 2010 Fremont Speedway track champions at a gala banquet Saturday, Nov. 20, at Ole Zim’s Wagonshed Banquet Hall.

Mintz, from Gibsonburg, Ohio, competed in 12 of the 13 A-mains, missing only the All Star speedweek main. Incredibly, Mintz, the 2009 Kistler Racing Products Fremont Attica Sprint Title champion, never finished worse than 10th all season. He posted 8 top five finishes, including wins on July 31 and Aug. 7 to take his career wins to five at Fremont. Mintz also scored a pair of runner-up finishes and picked up a pair of third place runs, including the season-ending Jim Ford Classic against the All Stars. His average A-main finishing position was a remarkable fourth.

Brubaker, the 2008 Fremont 305 champion and 2010 Kear’s Speed shop Cleveland Golf Fremont Attica Sprint Title Champion, competed in all 13 A-mains in 2010. Through Aug. 7, Brubaker, from Fremont, Ohio, had never finished worse than 10th! He recorded an incredible 11 top 10 finishes, including a remarkable 7 top five runs. Brubaker scored career win #4 on May 15. He added an incredible four runner-up finishes and a third. His average A-main finishing position was sixth.

Sabo, the 2001, 2002 and 2004 Fremont dirt truck champion, was the model of consistency throughout the season. Other than a 14th place finish on May 30, Sabo, from Fremont, Ohio, never finished worse than sixth! He scored 8 top five finishes, including a pair of third place runs and three fourth place finishes. Sabo’s average A-main finishing position was an outstanding fifth.

Besides rewarding the top 10 in points in the Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprints, Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints and Fremont Fence Dirt Trucks, special awards were also handed out to several businesses. JLH General Contractors and its owner John Horn were given the Alex Burkett Business Award for their continued support of Fremont Speedway. Also earning special recognition was the Fremont Federal Credit Union for their support of the 305 sprint division, and Larry and Shane Helms of Helms and Son Excavating for their efforts at the track this past season. Kistler Engines and owner Paul Kistler earned the Engine Pro Engine Builder of the Year Award.

Fremont Speedway Promoter Rich Farmer thanked the race teams, fans and loyal business partners for their support through a challenging year. He announced the World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series will return to “The Track That Action Built,” in October 2011, as part of the track’s 60th Anniversary Season celebration. The World of Outlaws have not visited Fremont Speedway since 1992.

Following is a look at the rest of the top 10 in points in all three
divisions:

Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprints
10. ROOKIE OF THE YEAR – Shawn Valenti, Risingsun, Ohio. Shawn competed in 9 of the 13 A-mains in 2010, including making the last 8 features in a row. He posted three top 10 finishes including a season-best 6th on July 3. Shawn’s average A-main finishing position was 11th.

9. Mike Linder, Fremont, Ohio. Mike, a two-time Fremont champion, competed in all 13 A-mains in 2010, in addition to the nonwing feature as well. Mike posted four top 10 finishes, including a season-best third for the nonwing feature. His average A-main finishing position was 13th.

8. Lee Jacobs, Dalton, Ohio. Fremont’s track-record holder competed in
12 if the 13 A-mains in 2010, missing only the Aug. 7 feature. He recorded 7 top 10 finishes, including 5 top five runs. He recorded a runner-up finish on July 31 and a third on July 10. Lee’s average A-main finishing position was 9th.

7. Phil Gressman, Fremont, Ohio. Phil, the 1995 track champion in the
305 sprints, competed in 11 of the 13 A-mains in 2010, missing only the May 15 and the July 3 features. He posted 8 top 10 finishes, including 5 top five finishes. He scored three third place showings, including a pair against the All Stars. Phil’s average A-main finishing position was 7th.

6. Todd Heller, Whitehouse, Ohio. Todd competed in 11 of the 13 A-mains in 2010, missing only the May 29 and June 26 All Star shows. He posted three top 10 finishes, including a season-best runner-up on May 30.
Todd’s average A-main finishing position was 12th.

5. Kevin Lee, Greensprings, Ohio. The Sulfer City Outlaw competed in all
13 A-mains during his sophomore campaign. He registered 7 top 10 finishes and 3 top five runs, including a season-best third on July 3.
Kevin wrapped up the season with finishes of 7th and 6th against the All Stars during the Jim Ford Classic weekend. Kevin’s average A-main finishing position was 9th.

4. Mark Keegan, Fremont, Ohio. The nine-time Fremont champion competed in 12 of the 13 A-mains, missing only the May 15 feature. He recorded 7 top 10 runs including a pair of runner-up finishes on May 1 and Aug. 7.
Mark’s average A-main finishing position was 10th.

3. Bryan Sebetto, Fremont, Ohio. Bryan competed in all 13 A-mains in addition to the nonwing feature. He posted 8 top 10 finishes and four top fives. Bryan scored a pair of wins in 2010 – against the All Stars on May 29 and on July 24. With his 305 sprint win this year, he now has
13 career victories at Fremont. Bryan’s average A-main finishing position was 10th.

2. Byron Reed, Monclova, Ohio. A three-time Fremont champion and the 2010 Kistler Racing Products Fremont Attica Sprint Title Champion, Byron competed in all 13 A-mains in 2010. He recorded 9 top 10 finishes and five top fives. Byron opened the season with back-to-back wins on May 1 and May 15 and now has 20 career victories at Fremont to sit 24th on the all-time win list. Byron’s average A-main finishing position was 7th.

Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 sprints Rookie of the year – Jason Keckler, Fremont, Ohio. Jason competed in 7 of the 13 A-mains in 2010 and finished 14th in the point standings. He really came on at the end of the year, not finishing out of the top 10 in the last four events. His average A-main finishing position was 10th.

10th TIE D.J. Foos and Josh Muntz

D.J. Foos, Fremont, Ohio. The 2010 Attica champion competed in 12 of the
13 A-mains in 2010, missing only the final night’s feature. He posted three top 10 runs, including a season-best pair of 6th place finishes.
D.J.’s average A-main finishing position was 13th

Josh Muntz, Fremont, Ohio. The recently newly wed and new father competed in 12 of the 13 A-mains, missing only the July 10 feature. He posted six top 10 finishes, including a season-best third on May 15.
Josh’s average A-main finishing position was 11th.

9. Dustin Stroup, Fremont, Ohio. Dustin made all 13 A-mains in 2010, recording 5 top 10 finishes, including a season-best third on July 3.
His average A-main finishing position was 11th.

8. Bill Kraylek, Fostoria, Ohio. Bill competed in 11 of the 13 A-mains, missing only the June 26 and July 10 features. He posted 6 top 10 finishes and four top five runs. His season-best finish as a runner-up on Aug. 7. Bill’s average A-main finishing position was 10th

7. Steve Rando, Lindsey, Ohio. Steve made 11 of the 13 A-mains in 2010, missing only the July 24 and Sept. 17 features. He scored five top 10 finishes including a season-best second on July 10. Steve’s average A-main finishing position was 10th.

6. Zack Kramer, Fremont, Ohio. Zack had a break-out season for his sophomore campaign, competing in all 13 A-mains. He posted six top 10 finishes including his first career win on July 1. Zack’s average A-main finishing position was 11th.

5. Jimmy Colvin, Bellevue, Ohio. The 17-year-old also put together a great sophomore season. Jimmy competed in 12 of the 13 A-mains, missing only opening night’s feature. He scored 8 top 10 finishes, including five op five runs. Jimmy scored his first career Fremont win on July 3.
Jimmy’s average A-main finishing position was 7th.

4. Bobby Clark, Fremont, Ohio. Bobby competed in all 13 A-mains in 2010, posting 8 top 10 finishes and 6 top fives. The two-time 360 Fremont champion scored three runner-up finishes and a pair of third place runs. Bobby’s average A-main finishing position was 7th.

3. Paul Weaver, Fremont, Ohio. The 2005 and 2006 Fremont champion competed in 12 of the 13 A-mains, missing only the season-ending feature. He scored 9 top 10 finishes, including 6 top fives. Paul scored
3 wins in 2010, including on opening night and sweeping both feature events on July 10. Paul now has 28 career feature wins to sit 13th on the track’s all-time win list. Paul’s average A-main finishing position was 7th.

2. John Ivy. Fremont, Ohio. The 2001 and 2002 Fremont 410 champion competed in all 13 A-mains in 2010. John posted 8 top 10 runs, including
7 top five finishes. He posted wins on May 29 and Aug. 7 and now has 29 career victories to sit 12th on the track’s all-time win list. John’s average A-main finishing position was 8th.

FREMONT FENCE DIRT TRUCKS
10. Loren Schwochow, Fremont, Ohio. Loren competed in 9 of the 11 A-mains in 2010, missing only the Aug. 1 and Sept. 5 features. He scored a pair of top 10 finishes, including a season-best 7th and an 8th on the same night, July 3. Loren’s average A-main finishing position was 13th

9. ROOKIE OF THE YEAR, Jeff Wank, New Reigel, Ohio. Jeff competed in 7 of the 11 A-mains in 2010, missing the last four features of the year with mechanical problems. He recorded three top 10 finishes, including a season-best runner-up on May 30. Jeff’s average A-main finishing position was 12th.

8. Brad Mitten, Fremont, Ohio. Brad made 9 of the 11 A-mains in 2010, missing only the July 31 and Sept. 17 features. He scored 6 top 10 finishes including a season-best third on May 15. Brad’s average A-main finishing position was 9th.

7. Jimmy McGrath Jr., Clyde, Ohio. Jimmy competed in 8 of the 11 A-mains in 2010, or he may have taken the track title. Jimmy scored 6 top five finishes, including five wins – May 1, July 3, July 31, Aug. 7 and Sept.
5. His average A-main finishing position was 5th.

6. Kent Brewer, Fostoria, Ohio. Kent had a break-out year, competing in 10 of the 11 A-mains, missing only the final night’s feature. He scored
7 top 10 finishes, including 6 top fives. In fact, from July 3 through Aug. 7, Kent’s worse finish was a fifth. That streak included three straight runner-up finishes. Kent’s average A-main finishing position was 8th.

5. Bob Dible, Fostoria, Ohio. Bob competed in all 11 A-mains in 2010, recording 8 top 10 finishes. He scored four top five runs, including a pair of runner-up finishes on July 3 and a pair of third place performances. Bob’s average A-main finishing position was 7th.

4. Cory Ward, Sandusky, Ohio. The 2007 Fremont dirt truck champion competed in 10 of the 11 A-mains in 2010, missing only the Aug. 1 feature. He recorded 7 top 10 finishes and five top five runs. Cory scored a pair of third place finishes. He opened the season finishing no worse than 7th through July 3. Cory’s average A-main finishing position was 10th.

3. Steve Endicott, Risingsun, Ohio. The 2009 Fremont dirt truck champion competed in all 11 A-mains in 2010. Steve scored an incredible 8 top 10 finishes, including 7 top five runs. In fact, from July 31 through the end of the year, Steve’s worse finish was a 10th. Steve picked up wins on May 30, July 31 and Aug. 1 and now has 10 for his career at Fremont.
Steve’s average A-main finishing position was 6th.

2. Dan Hennig, Castalia, Ohio. Dan vowed last year to be more consistent and he accomplished that goal at Fremont. Finishing just 13 points out of the championship, he competed in 10 of the 11 A-mains. Had he not missed the opening night feature, he may have scored the track title. In fact, Dan’s worse finish of the season was an 8th on Aug. 7. He scored a remarkable 8 top five finishes. Dan picked up three wins in 2010 at Fremont – May 15, July 3 and Sept. 17 and now has 7 career victories. He also had a second and a third place showing. Dan’s average A-main finishing position was an incredible 3rd!
