McQueen Scores Another Top 10 Finish

By Robert Haugh
Ventura, CA – May 14, 2011

Dicing through traffic during the feature, Bakersfield’s Shannon McQueen calmly guided her McQueen Racing #7 Spike/Esslinger to an eighth-place finish in the VRA sanctioned event at the 1/5-mile Ventura Raceway on Saturday, May 14, her sixth consecutive Top 10 run.

After starting seventh in the feature and running as high as sixth, McQueen was shuffled back to as low as tenth after contact with another car. Playing it safe and remaining cautious, McQueen carefully rallied to take home an eighth place finish in the 21-car field.

Jumping to the lead from the outside pole in Heat 2, McQueen dominated her Heat race, winning by a half straightaway when the checkers flew, despite batting an extremely tight condition, with McQueen running on two wheels many times on the watered-down track.

After six strong runs, all top tens to open the season, including one feature victory, McQueen leads both the BCRA Dirt points and USAC-Western States points. Next up for McQueen Racing is the Saturday. May 28 VRA Midget series races at the 1/5-mile Ventura Raceway in Ventura, CA.
