TULSA, Okla. (May 23, 2011) – The Sunoco Fuel ASCS Canyon Region championship chase continues with two full nights of Tucson action at USA Raceway’s Inaugural Salute to Indy this Saturday and Sunday.
Leading the way into the pair of single-night cards atop the 3/8-mile USA Raceway clay oval is two-time ASCS Canyon Region champion Jeremy Sherman of Surprise, AZ, who has finished no worse than fourth in the initial six events of the season.
With three wins in six tries, Sherman is out to an 85-point advantage over two-time and reigning series champion Charles Davis, Jr., who is still looking for his first win of the year after collecting a half-dozen wins during his 2010 title run.
Tucson’s Ronnie Clark has climbed to third in points with Phoenix’ R.J. Johnson, who topped the series season opener in fourth. After winning two of the most recent four events, Josh Pelkey has cracked the top five in points after a slow start with the rest of the top ten including Matt Rossi, Andrew Reinbold, Dalten Gabbard, Bruce St. James and Mike Martin.
Racing action gets under way at 6:45 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday at USA Raceway.

The Sunoco Fuel ASCS Canyon Region brings the best of wingless Sprint Car racing action to fans in Arizona with 19 scheduled nights of competition at Tucson’s USA Raceway and Peoria’s Canyon Speedway Park.
The 2011 season marks the 20th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, with approximately 200 nights of competition at tracks throughout the nation and into Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of ten different Regions throughout the nation.
