June 2, 2011 – The benefit auction for Skip Jackson is shaping up to be a great one! It will be held on Saturday, June 11 on the second floor of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum in Knoxville, Iowa, beginning at Noon!
Skip, a two-time Knoxville track champion, was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer and is currently undergoing treatment in Arizona. Last season, the Jr. Fan Club at the Knoxville Raceway voted Skip the most popular driver for a record sixth straight year! He is missed at the track this year by both young and old alike!
A routine visit to his family doctor for the flu has changed Skip Jackson’s life forever.
A pre-emptive blood test came back with an irregularity and in no time Skip was off to a specialist where he was sadly given the news that he had third stage prostate cancer. Remarkably his doctor told him he was the youngest patient he had ever treated for the condition. Skip’s not a person to lie down though. Never has been. Remember his gutsy recovery from that horrific Williams Grove crash? He’s upbeat, he’s determined and he’s already on a mission to cure this condition and has traveled to Arizona where one of the world’s foremost medical centers on this disease is ready for him. This week specialists will work out with Skip which treatment is the best for his condition and then proceed.
