DENISON, Iowa (July 22, 2011) – Racing just 20 minutes from his Charter Oak, IA, home, Ryan Anderson picked off his first career American Sprint Car Series win by topping Friday night’s 25-lap Speedway Motors ASCS Midwest main event at Crawford County Speedway.
Anderson assumed the point on the sixth round atop the 5/8-mile clay oval and kept Nebraska’s Jack Dover at bay the rest of the way to secure the win aboard his No. 71r entry.
While Anderson started the feature outside row three, Brian Brown jumped into the early lead ahead of pole starter Dover. Anderson blitzed from sixth to third on the opening circuit and challenged Brown for the point on the fifth round before Brown lost power a lap later.
After the track was cleared for a Skyler Prochaska flip that occurred at the same time that Brown slowed, Anderson paced the rest of the way with Dover settling for runner-up honors.
Gregg Bakker slipped around Lee Grosz for third on the ninth circuit and held the position the rest of the way with Grosz and Bryan Gossel rounding out the top five.
Brown and Billy Alley topped heat race action. Alley was an early casualty in the feature, pulling pitside before a lap five restart.
