ARDMORE, Ok. (Aug. 1, 2011) – Whit Gastineau won his sixth race in the 12 Oil Capital Racing Series races this season when he won at Southern Oklahoma Speedway.
The race at Southern Oklahoma replaced an event originally scheduled for another track. The original track ceased operations earlier in the season.
Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the OCRS series. The Akron, Ohio-based tiremaker supplies the series with the same line of tires it provides the top winged sprint car with the exception of the right rear tire. Goodyear developed a right rear tire specifically for the OCRS competitors.
Gastineau took the lead on the ninth lap, passing Jamie Passmore. Gastineau had to endure two restarts before the end of the race, but he beat the field to the finish.
Passmore finished second, followed by Sean McClelland, Danny Smith and Rafe Essary.
