Tony Stewart made sure one of his cars made it to a World of Outlaws victory celebration, Paul McMahan added to his international racing credentials and Jason Meyers grabbed his 50th WoO victory. It all happened during a three-race World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series swing through Canada.
Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the very popular WoO winged sprinters. The Akron, Ohio-based tiremaker also supplies tires to other traveling winged sprint car programs as well as for many weekly sprint car programs around the country. Goodyear is the sponsor of the Goodyear Knoxville Nationals in Iowa in August.
Stewart’s victory at Ohsweken Speedway in Ontario was his first as a driver. He owns two of the top teams on the circuit and races with the Outlaws as often as his heavy NASCAR schedule allows. Sammy Swindell finished second and Jason Meyers was third, followed by Brad Sweet and Jason Sides.
McMahan started fourth before winning the race around the 1/3-mile oval at Brockville Ontario Speedway. The win north of the border gave McMahan sprint car racing wins in Canada, Australia and the United States. Meyers finished second, followed by Craig Dollansky, Lucas Wolfe and Steve Kinser.
Meyers capped a remarkable week with his victory at Autodrome Drummond in Quebec. He finished third in Stewart’s victory and second to McMahan before winning at Drummond. Steve Kinser won a hard struggle with Lucas Wolfe to take the second spot. Wolfe was third, followed by Sweet and McMahan.
Meyers leads the championship standings with 5,232 points. Donny Schatz is next with 5,180.
