August 29, 2011 – The Monster Energy™ Sprint Car Series heads to the Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, Illinois this Friday night. Korey Weyant picked up his first career Midwest Open Wheel Association Win when the series visited the bullring in July.
The series had last weekend off after a doubleheader the previous week at Jacksonville and LaSalle. Danny Smith won at the Jacksonville Speedway on Friday, August 19, while Bill Balog topped the IRA/MOWA Bill Waite Jr. Memorial at the LaSalle Speedway on Sunday, August 21. While Danny Smith won his second feature of the year with the series, Balog became the first driver from Wisconsin to claim victory with the Monster Energy Sprint Car Series.
Jerrod Hull continues to lead the series’ standings heading into Lincoln, but a strong second place finish by Jimmy Hurley at LaSalle has him within 66 points of the leader. Only eight markers separate Robbie Standridge from Jim Moughan Jr. in the race for third, and Weyant rounds out the top five.
Gates open at 3:00 p.m. on Friday with hot laps scheduled for 6:30 and racing to follow! Grandstand seats are $15. The track is located at the Logan County Fairgrounds on 11th and Jefferson Streets.
