Port Royal – There’s no bull about it, thanks to Weikert’s Livestock of Fairfield and its family of sponsors, the total purse up for grabs in the April 28 All Star Circuit of Champions Bob Weikert Memorial for sprint cars at Port Royal Speedway is now up to worth more than $37,000!
The race run in honor of the late, legendary, Hall of Fame car owner not only offers a bullish $10,000 to win but it will also pay $500 just to start the 30-lap main and with $100 to lead each lap posted as well, no driver can beef about that kind of MOO-lah.
The race will even pay more than a normal weekly winner’s share for a second place finish as a beefy $3,500 will go to the runner up
In addition, $200 has been posted for fast time plus Crankwerks of Newville will pay $100 to the highest driver in Port Royal points who fails to qualify for the prestigious event.
All of this means that if one driver can take the bull by the horns and set fast time, lead every lap of the Weikert Memorial and pick up the win to boot, he or she will corral $13,200 for their night of work.
And that’s a stock pen full of money, no matter how you slice your brisket.
Fans too will be come away winners at the race.
Up for grabs by general admission fans will be five-pound boxes of hamburger patties and ten-pound boxes of hot dogs. Plus, boys and girls bicycles will also be given away at intermission.
A stellar field of local and national sprint car talent is expected for the high-profile affair that will honor the famed late sprint car owner Bob Weikert and his equally famous No. 29 sprint car.
Justin Henderson will be campaigning a replica Weikert’s Livestock No. 29 for the race as he transforms his Sorokach Racing No. 35 into the storied Beef Mobile.
Gates for the Weikert Memorial will open at 5 pm with time trials slated for 7. Adult general admission is just $20.00 with students ages 12 – 18 admitted for just $5.00.
