DODGE CITY, Kan. (June 19, 2012) – The Old West frontier town of Dodge City located in Ford County, Kansas, has seen its fair share of Outlaws over the years. So, it’s only fitting that the World of Outlaws Sprint Car series descends upon Dodge City Raceway Park for the 3/8-mile clay oval’s banner event of the year this weekend.
The fire-breathing 410-ci winged World of Outlaws Sprint Cars take to the Dodge City Raceway Park oval for two full nights of action on Friday and Saturday. IMCA Modifieds join in on the action on both nights, with Thunder Cars rounding out Friday’s action and IMCA Stock Cars filling out Saturday night’s card.
Advance tickets are still available at http://dirtcar.ticketforce.com/eventperformances.asp?evt=62 until 24 hours prior to the event. Two-day reserved seat combos are available for just $65, with two-day general admission combos available for just $50. Single day tickets are available as well at $40 for reserved seats and $35 for general admission. Will call advance tickets may be picked up at the track office beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday and then 9:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Pit passes are available for $45 per night. Local classes (Modifieds, Thunder Cars and Stocks) may purchase up to five pit passes per car at $30.
Four-time World of Outlaws champion Donny Schatz of North Dakota leads the way into the weekend with a slim 19-point advantage over “King of the Outlaws”, Steve Kinser of Bloomington, IN, with Tennessee’s Sammy Swindell just another five points back in a fierce battle for the 2012 WoO title.
Minnesota’s Craig Dollansky and Indiana’s Joey Saldana both remain in strong contention for the top spot within 100 points of Schatz, with the balance of the current top ten in WoO points including Kraig Kinser, Chad Kemenah, Cody Darrah, Australian Kerry Madsen and Lucas Wolfe.
In the local ranks, Mike Martin holds an 8-point advantage over Ryan Heger in the IMCA Modified points race entering the weekend with Beau Davis, Cole Traugott and Van Gemmill all within another three points. Dan Rogers holds the Thunder Car points lead, while Perry Misner is atop the IMCA Stock Car point charts with three wins in as many outings.
Pit gates open on both Friday and Saturday at 3:00 p.m., with front gates opening at 5:00 p.m. Hot laps are set for 6:45 p.m., with World of Outlaws qualifying at 7:30 p.m. and racing to follow immediately after.
Dodge City Raceway Park presents 16 nights of racing over a dozen different weekends in 2012. In addition to the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, other special events include USAC Midgets, USAC Sprint Cars, ASCS National Tour, NCRA Sprint Cars, URSS 305 Sprints and BST Modifieds.
In addition to the special events, Dodge City Raceway Park will crown champions in the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Thunder Cars and Hornets.
