Shannon McQueen of Tehachapi, Calif., following her second-place finish in last Friday’s race at Watsonville, Calif., will take a 75-point lead over Scott Pierovich into this Saturday’s “Gerhardt Classic” USAC Mopar Western Midget race at the Madera (Calif.) Speedway.

A 100-lap feature is on tap at Madera as the Midgets join the USAC Western Classic Sprints and USAC Western Ignite Midgets at the one-third-mile paved oval.

Cory Kruseman of Ventura, Calif. captured Friday’s 30-lapper at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, leading the final 15 laps after passing Pierovich on lap 16. McQueen was followed at the checkered flag by Shane Golobic, Danny Ebberts and Ronnie Gardner. Randi Pankratz led the first two laps before yielding to Pierovich.

The “Gerhardt Classic” at Madera salutes the history of the famed Fresno, Calif. racing family whose racing resume spans many decades.
