Park City, Kansas – July 21, 2012 – Danny Jennings of Norman, Oklahoma got underneath race long leader Danny Wood with three laps to go then held on to claim Saturday night’s thrilling National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products 360 sprint car feature at 81 Speedway in Park City.

Wood started on the pole for the twenty-five lap feature and got the jump on outside front row starter Danny Jennings as the green flag fell for the twenty car feature finale. The field only got in one lap before the first of two cautions would wave when Barry Gifford spun in turn two.

The restart saw Wood throttle away from the field and open up a quick half stretch lead by lap three.

Behind the front runners a race long battle for third through seventh would take place as Jason Martin, Mike Peters, Luke Cranston, Zach Chappell and current series point leader CJ Johnson would all change positions throughout the event.

On lap six the final caution of the night fell when Gavin Punch spun in turn one.

The final restart saw Martin, who passed Peters on lap five to take over the third position, dive low entering turns one and two and looked to overtake the runner up position. However, Jennings would not be denied but now had another half straight away to make up as Wood continued to cruise at the top of the three-eighths mile oval.

At the races midway point it was still Wood over Jennings with Peters now in third followed by Cranston, Johnson, Jeremy Campbell and Martin as the leader began to approach lapped traffic. This allowed Jennings to close to within five car lengths and with five laps to go, began to show the leader his front bumper.

Jennings, aboard his familiar #1j Goodyear Racing/Butlerbuilt Seats/Lucas Oil sponsored Wesmar powered Maxim chassis, would dive low entering turns one and two for a couple of laps and follow the fellow Norman veteran to the top entering turns three and four. Then with three laps to go Jennings finally made his sprinter stick to the bottom and out ran Wood down the back stretch to take the lead.

The race was far from over the next two laps as a lapped car made it difficult for Jennings to maneuver around. This allowed Wood to close to Jennings bumper but also difficult to make a move back to the front. Jennings would not be denied and at the end took the two car length victory.

“He (Danny) has a lot of laps here and I knew he would be tough,” said Jennings in victory lane. “At one point he showed me the bottom down there in one and two and I knew I had to make that work because this track can really rubber up. That lapped car was just as fast as we were because he was in the rubber but it all worked out for us.”

Johnson would move up into the third position late and was right there waiting for a mistake from the front runners but would settle for third and retain his slim points lead. Eighth starting Campbell, back aboard his own #10c would come home fourth while Martin rounded out the top five.

The ten lap heat races for the twenty-three car field were won by Wood, Cranston and Jennings while Jake Martens took the lead on lap three and never looked back in claiming the ten lap “B” feature.

The series would like to take this time to thank their sprint car division partners and sponsors for the 2012 race season:
