Atchison, KS — (August 12th, 2012) —  Overtaking leader Kenny Potter on lap eighteen, Mitchell Moore went on to his second Wingless Auto Racing win of the season at Atchison County Raceway on Sunday night.

Nathan Ryun and Greg Clemons led the field to the green flag with Ryun looping his car in turn two.  In the scramble to avoid Ryun, John Helm and Chad Frewaldt were also involved.  Helm suffered front axle damage which would end his evening. Frewaldt would go to the pits to change a right rear tire  and Ryun would be able to restart.

Once green, Chad Tye got by Clemons and J.R. Topper with Kenny Potter right behind.  With one lap in the books, Clemons looped his car in turn two.  This again sent the rest of the field scrambling for open track and in the process Josh Stephens was run over.  With no steering due to heavy front end damage, Stephens came to a stop in the infield.

Tye was looking for his second straight win at ACR and he set the pace on the restart leading the next two laps. Second running Potter, however,  had other ideas as he shot by Tye coming off turn four and  to lead the fourth lap.

Moore would get by Tye a short time later and set his sights on Potter.  Racing wheel to wheel, the pair had a heated battle going over the next several laps, with Potter continuing to lead.
Finally, on lap eighteen, Moore was able to get by Potter and the Edgerton, KS native raced to victory  in his Kelly Potter owned Moore Racing Engines sprinter.  Potter ran a strong second in his own XXX powered by a Wesmar motor.  Austin Alumbaugh and Steven Cross had an intense battle for the third spot with Alumbaugh taking the position in his Rick Smith owned MRP.  Cross was a solid fourth in the Zink Motor Company Eagle.  Rounding out the top five was Tye in the Tye Racing Maxim.

Stephens was fast qualifier with Potter and Moore taking heat race wins.
WAR will next be in action on Sunday September 2nd at the Bethany Speedway in Bethany, MO as part of the 96th Annual Northwest Missouri State Fair.
