For the first time since finishing runner-up in June of 2010, Craig Dollansky and the rest of the World of Outlaws returned to Junction Motor Speedway this year for a Tuesday affair of racing on a beautiful day in McCool Junction, Nebraska. The event in ‘The Cornhusker State’ also marked the fourth and final stop of the inaugural Kasey Kahne Challenge.
With a small field of 20 drivers signed in for action, the current World of Outlaws point leader began the night by powering the Big Game Treestands #7 to 2nd in qualifying at 13.999 seconds. In heat #2 ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ lined up outside row four and finished 3rd to earn a spot in the dash. After the four pill inversion was drawn for the dash, Dollansky started inside row two and lost two positions in the 6-lap event.
In the 30-lap A-Main the Aggressive Hydraulics Maxim lined up fifth on the grid. When the green flag dropped the Elk River, Minnesota native held position and then closed in on fourth around the midway point of the main event. With not much passing going on, Dollansky maintained 5th in the remaining laps as the MobileStar #7 recorded the series-leading 25th top-five up to this point of the season. The strong finish also pocketed Dollansky an extra $3,000 for being the overall champion of the Kasey Kahne Challenge.
“It was a great four race series and I want to thank Kasey and SLS Promotions for putting it on,” commented Dollansky. “It was a good mix of race tracks with four different tracks that presented different challenges. It’s a great accomplishment for our team and crew who work very hard. To come out on top and have this beautiful trophy is pretty cool.”
The Big Game Treestands #7 team now travels back to the shop in Princeton, Minnesota before getting back into action Friday, August 17th, for the second visit of the season at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
