Making the journey home from Knoxville, IA, Jonathan Allard returned to his home track, the Silver Dollar Speedway, and picked up a local win on Friday night, before rebounding to an 11th place finish on Saturday night with the King of the West Series.
With 23 cars on hand on Friday night, Allard timed ins K&N Products No.0 entry in with the fifth fastest time during time trials, putting him in the second heat race.
Scoring a third place finish in his heat, Allard found himself on the front row of the feature event, alongside perennial rival, Andy Forsberg.
Getting the jump early, JA quickly distanced himself form the field as the first 22 laps quickly rattled off with so incidents.
Following a stoppage on the 22nd lap, the top three, JA, Forsberg, and Kyle Larson, put on quite a display over the final three laps, but Allard was too good on this night as he was able to pick up the very popular win.
“My guys are awesome,” said Allard. “They busted their butts to get back from Knoxville, and then got everything ready to go for this weekend, and to win is a huge testament to them.”
Saturday night Allard and the Williams Motorsports team resumed action with the Cancen Oil King of the West Series in their second to last contest of the 2012 season.
Finishing third in his heat race, Allard transferred to both the dash and the feature, and following a third place finish in the dash, JA lined his potent No.0 machine up in the second row of the feature behind Andy Gregg.
Underway, JA held tough in the third spot as he chased down Gregg and Tim Kaeding, and looked to fend off a hard charging Kyle Larson.
After falling to the fourth spot to Larson, Allard and Croft looked to duke it out for the fourth spot until trouble ensued on the 10th lap.
Entering turns three and four, both Croft and JA lost the handle of their machines, and Allard spun his car to a stop, and was forced to restart at the rear of the field.
On what was a very technical track, Allard would rebound back to an 11th place finish.
“We got racing with Willie Croft and we were both going into turn three fighting for the fourth spot, and we both spun together,” he explained. “We were able to restart and did a decent job getting back up to the 11th spot.”
ON TAP: JA and the Williams Motorsports team will now meet up again with the World of Outlaws when they hit the west coast starting in Elma, WA the last weekend of August.
