After a wild night at the Petaluma Speedway just one week ago, Sacramento, CA pilot, Kyle Hirst, worked his way to a strong second place finish Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway aboard the always potent, Rod Tiner Racing No.83.
With 33 California Civil War Sprint Cars checked in for the ultra competitive series finale, Hirst started off the night quick as he timed in second quickest putting him in the second heat.
Heat race action through a wrench in KH’s night as contact with Sean Becker in turns three and four sent the RTR No.83 upside down, forcing him into the B main event.
With only minor damage from his rollover, Hirst was able to answer the bell for the ‘B’, and he proceeded to win the event, and transfer to the feature event. With the 10 pill being drawn for the invert, KH would line up in the sixth row, just one row behind where he would of started had he made it through his heat.
During the feature, Hirst simply put his machine anywhere he could find real estate as he fought through dense traffic on the tight Placerville Speedway confines. As Hirst continued to climb up the leaderboard, laps continued to click off.
With just two laps to go, Hirst was able to grab the second spot, as he tried to chase down the race leader, Steven Tiner, who had a very sizeable advantage built up over the field.
At the stripe, KH would end up in the second spot, and spoke very highly of his team, and the racetrack on the front stretch.
“Rod and all of his guys continue to give me a fast car on a nightly basis. Unfortunately we tore up a little bit of equipment, but we made the feature, and got rolling nicely. The track was a blast, and it was fun coming up through the field.”
ON TAP: Hirst is now scheduled to compete in the Fall Nationals in Chico, CA, taking place this Friday and Saturday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway
