Forgettable Weekend For Dewease

From Peterson Media

Often times in sports there is that game, match, or race that you would like to forget, but for Lance Dewease he would like to forget last weekend even happened.

“We were terrible,” said Dewease. “It’s a simple as that. We had one of those weekends where you wish you would of just left everything back at the shop.”

Dewease was in action for two nights of action over the weekend, with him kicking it off at the Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night.

With the National Open and the World of Outlaws coming to town this weekend, the format for the night was World of Outlaws format with time-trials, heat races, and dash and main events.

Timing in 17th quickest, Dewease missed out on the inversion and found himself starting in the third row of heat race number one. Getting a great start, Dewease was able to put his Conduit Connections/Wings Unlimited/Hank’s Performance Products machine into the fourth spot and comfortably into the feature event.

Though in the feature event, Dewease mass marred deep in the field as he lined up in the 15th spot. Throughout the feature event, Dewease struggled to get moving forward as he ‘threw the kitchen sink’ at it, and tried everything he could to get going.

As the race drew to a close Dewease was able to muster a 12th place finish.

Saturday night the plan was to take on the World of Outlaws at the Lernerville Speedway, but with rain in the forecast, Dewease and his team opted to make the trip to Lincoln instead.

While it did in fact rain and cause a long night in Lernerville, Dewease’s night did not go any better.

With 32 cars on hand for the Kenny Weld/Hilly Rife Memorial, Dewease started the night off by timing his No.30c machine in 15th quickest, putting him in the third heat, which he won and made the transfer into the feature event.

Starting towards the front of the 40-lap feature event, Dewease’s night continued to go well, as the veteran driver ran solidly in the top-five during the first half of the race as he chased down Gerard McIntyre, Danny Dietrich, and Cory Haas.

While the lead trio had a sizeable advantage on the field, Dewease ran solidly in the top four until the 25th circuit when something went sour, and he was forced to bring his machine to a stop, ending his night.

“We were bad on Friday, and I thought we were going to end up with a good finish on Saturday night,” he said. “Unfortunately we had some bad luck, that put the cherry on top of our weekend.”
