Hirst 4th In Silva 57

From Peterson Media

Continuing a trend of driving for the regions top car owners to close out the 2012 season, Kyle Hirst teamed up with Paul Silva to pilot his number 57 machine at the Marysville Raceway Park and tallied a fourth place finish on a sticky, hooked up track.

With 25 cars on hand for the final winged 360 event of the season at the northern California track, Hirst proceeded to time his Palmero Properties/Lucas Oil/A.R.T. entry in second fastest overall behind Andy Forsberg, lining him up in the second heat race.

Inverting six in the heat races, KH lined up in the third row, needing to run the top-five to transfer to the feature event. Utilizing a strong start, Hirst was able to grab a pair of spots, putting the Finley Farms/Stepping Stone Genetics/FK Rod Ends machine directly into the 30-lap feature event.

With the six pill being drawn for the feature, Hirst lined his entry up in the third row on a track that retained a ton of moisture, and looked to be tough to pass on.

When the race went green Hirst jumped up to third, but a pile up in the first corner negated the initial start. The second start went off without any hitches, with Hirst remaining in the fifth spot.

Searching the track to gain ground, KH would avoid near disaster on a pair of occasions as he made swift work to avoid back markers as he worked in heavy traffic.

Taking advantage of Tyler Wolfe making contact with the back stretch wall, Hirst then began pressuring Billy Wallace and Sean Becker as they dulled side-by-side. With contact ensuing with them, KH took advantage of the fourth spot as Becker slipped back.

Over the final laps, KH worked on MRP Track Champion, Billy Wallace, but was un able to get the third spot from him and ended up finishing in the fourth position.

“It was fun getting out here and driving for Paul Silva,” Hirst said. “I’ve always respected him, the way he works, and the results he produces, and I can’t thank him enough for giving me a shot. The track was tough, and we were a little snug, but overall it was a decent night.”
