Gregg Closes KWS Campaign Eighth Overall

From Peterson Media

Though the 2012 Cancen Oil King of the West Series didn’t end the way he would of liked it, failing to make the feature event, Andy Gregg can look back at his season and be happy that he was able to still finish eighth in the championship standings.

“When the season started, I wasn’t even sure if we would be able to run the entire season, but fortunately I had some people help me along the way, and I had some great guys helping me out on a weekly basis,” Gregg said.

In the season finale event, Gregg failed to make the feature event, ending his season on a sour note, but the Placerville, CA driver had some bright spots through the grueling season that he can look back on and smile at.

His first podium of the season came on May 27th, at the famed Calistoga Speedway. Gregg used a late race restart to advance from fifth to second, over the final pair of laps.

He came back with a third place finish on June 23rd, at the Antioch Speedway, and followed that up with another third place finish at his home track, the Placerville Speedway on June 30th.

During the penultimate event of the season at the Silver Dollar Speedway, Gregg looked for his first win of the season as he led a majority of the feature, but he ended up running second to Tim Kaeding.

With the dust settling on the competitive series, Gregg tabulated 17 starts, four top three finishes, 11 top 10 finishes, including a ninth place effort at the prestigious Dave Bradway, Jr Memorial, two Last Chance Qualifier Wins, to go along with three heat wins, and two dash wins.

“When it’s all said and done, it’s an honor to be racing with such a competitive series, and such a great group of guys. To be in contention for a couple of wins against that stiff of competition it’s truly a testament to our team.”
