Tulsa, Oklahoma (November 5, 2012) One of the highest human callings is to help those in need. To give selflessly to those whose world has been impacted by grief and strife so they might prop themselves up on and one day be able to repay society by doing the same for those who they find in need.
The Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, New Mexico is earned a great reputation as a track that gives back to the community. With its involvement with the Cowboys for Cancer Research, Karsyn’s Krusaders, and the March of Dimes the Southern New Mexico Speedway has raised over $50,000 over the past two years for charity.
Looking to build on that reputation, the Southern New Mexico Speedway in association with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV, who will be at the Speedway on Saturday November 10th, will join with High Heels for High Hopes; an organization that benefits the March of Dimes to raise funds for cancer research as well as the families effected by premature births and other birth defects.
Becky Horner, who is the southern New Mexico Director for the March of Dimes, is pleased that the Speedway has chosen to help the March of Dimes, “the families that have been affected by the problems associated with premature births are very excited to be a part of this event. We look forward to a great night of racing.”
A special event for the New Mexico chapter of the March of Dimes, High Heels for High Hopes is one of two events held for the past six years as a fashion show that features local women who spend the year raising funds for the March of Dimes.
“The money that is raised will go to help research programs as well as families who have been affected by the problems associated with premature births” commented Horner. “Some of these children end up have lifelong problems and this will go to help those families and their needs.”
Spearheaded by USRA Modified driver Holly Jones, who in 2011 raised $6,000 for the High Heels for High Hopes campaign, the event will feature a Driver Auction that will incorporate the drivers who qualify for the top ten in Saturday’s A-Feature. The drivers will be lined up before the star to the A-Main and anyone in attendance will be given a chance to buy their favorite driver for charity. To give incentive to bid, the bidder whose driver wins the A-Feature will receive half of the total money raised with the other half going to the March of Dimes and High Heels of High Hopes.
According to Jones, if a driver she bids on happens to win all monies will be donated to the High Heels of High Hopes campaign.
Along with the auction, there will also be a Hot Wing Eating Contest with the potential for $10 per wing eaten in under 3:00 minuets. Holly Jones has also donated a Fire Suit and has received a donation of a Pyrotect Helmet that will be signed by the drivers.
Events at the Southern New Mexico Speedway are scheduled to begin at 6:30pm with the Grandstands opening at 5pm. General Admissions tickets are $20 with discounts for Children 11-15, Military Id, Seniors, and those with a University Id. Kids 10 and under will be admitted free of charge. The first 50 kids through the gate will receive a Goodie Bag.
