Tulare, CA — (January 14, 2013) — The Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway is pleased to announce an expanded schedule of events for the 2013 racing season totaling nine weekends of competition at the always popular clay oval located on the Tulare County Fairgrounds.

The season will open up in traditional fashion with a World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series double header featuring the top Winged Sprint Car drivers in the country including five-time & defending series champ Donny Schatz, 20-time titlist Steve Kinser, three-time champion Sammy Swindell, Brownsburg, Indiana’s Joey Saldana, Elk River, Minnesota’s Craig Dollanksy and others. The dates are Friday & Saturday March 15 & 16 and will also showcase the exciting USAC West Coast Wingless Sprints each night.

Including the World of Outlaws weekend the USAC West Coast Wingless Series will return for events on Saturday April 13, Saturday April 20 and Saturday September 21. Three-time USAC Silver Crown Series champion Bud Kaeding from Campbell captured the series title last season and will be a favorite once again driving for Buster & Ziggy Enterprise. Others to look for are sure to include Hollister’s Ryan Bernal, Visalia’s Richard VanderWeerd, Tipton’s Danny Faria, Finland’s Markus Niemela and more.

The Rebel Cup 360 Sprint Cars will invade the Thunderbowl Raceway on four occasions with shows on Saturday April 13, Saturday April 20, Saturday May 4 and Saturday June 22. Last season young 16-year-old DJ Netto from Hanford claimed the series title while fellow 16-year-old Carson Macedo of Lemoore earned the Rookie of the Year award. A number of young and talented drivers are expected to join the Rebel Cup Series this season, as the tour competes in Tulare, Hanford and Santa Maria.

The King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series will be on hand at the one-third mile clay oval for three races, with a two-night Memorial Day weekend double header being much anticipated on Saturday & Sunday May 25 & 26, along with a single event showing on Saturday September 21. The Sunday May 26 event will be the annual “Chris & Brian Faria Memorial” and the September 21 race will be tabbed as the “John Anthony Sharp Memorial.”

Chico’s Jonathan Allard captured his third career King of the West 410 Series title last season and will be back looking for number four in 2013. Locally based Roth Motorsports also claimed the car owners championship last season with the series. Other drivers expected during the KWS events in 2013 will include Tim, Brent & Bud Kaeding, Kyle Hirst, Tommy Tarlton, Peter Murphy, Jason Statler, Willie Croft, Bobby McMahan, Craig Stidham and many more.

The USAC/CRA 410 Wingless Sprint Car Series will make a much anticipated return to the Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway in 2013, with the event happening on Saturday May 18. Multiple-time USAC/CRA champion Mike Spencer from Temecula dominated the series last season en route to yet another title aboard the famed Ron Chaffin No. 50 sprinter. Others looking to claim Thunderbowl glory will include Nic Faas, Matt Mitchell, Cory Kruseman, Bud Kaeding, Ryan Bernal, Danny Faria Jr. and more.

Another popular addition to the schedule will be a return of the USAC Western Midgets on Saturday June 22, as part of a four division event featuring the Rebel Cup Series, IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Superstocks. The track will also have a heavy dose of IMCA Modified action, with the mods on hand for events Friday March 15, Saturday April 13, Saturday April 20, Saturday May 18 and Saturday June 22.

The season will come to a close with the 20th annual Trophy Cup on Thursday, Friday and Saturday October 17, 18 and 19. Thursday’s opener will once again be the “Non Wing Trophy Cup” after a successful inaugural edition last year that saw Bud Kaeding win both main events and Ryan Bernal bring home the overall title. Friday & Saturday will be the standard Trophy Cup featuring 90 of the best Winged Sprint Car drivers from around the Western United States and beyond. Last season two-time World of Outlaws champion Jason Meyers from nearby Clovis scored his second career Trophy Cup title and will be gunning for his third in 2013.
