Long time sprint car sponsor, Dale Miller, has decided to up his role in the sport and debut his own team in 2013, Miller Motorsports, and he has also elected to pay homage to the late, great, Stephen Allard.
“It has been a long, emotional roller coaster ride for many with the untimely death of Stephen Allard, and getting to know him and his family well last season, I have decided to dedicate our debut season to his honor with the Miller Motorsports No. 4SA car, A Tribute To Stephen Allard,” Miller said.
Geared up to run a 360ci winged sprint car around northern California, Miller has tagged former World of Outlaw driver, Brandon Wimmer, to pilot his machine for as many races as possible in 2013 with the debut of the 4SA car coming at the Silver Cup on March 8th and 9th at the Silver Dollar Speedway.
“I am very excited to get back in the seat of a sprint car, after a long time off,” Wimmer said. “I’ve been in contact with Dale Miller for a few weeks, and I’m excited to get back out to California as we had some success in 2007 driving for the Kumar Family. During that time I was able to get to know, and grow close to Stephen through the Kumar family, as he was dating Loveleen, and I couldn’t be more honored to pay tribute to him.”
“We are excited to get Brandon back out to California where he had tremendous success in 2007, and we feel he is a great driver to have as he makes his comeback to the sport after overcoming injury,” Miller explained. “As it will be the first race of the season for many without Stephen, we hope fans can come out to this race, enjoy themselves and pay homage to SA.”
With Wimmer still residing in Indiana, Miller has hopes he can make a schedule work for both parties, but noted that the team may have some ‘guest’ drivers, to continue SA’s honor all season.
“Dale has some great equipment, and I’m hoping we can honor Stephen, in the best way, and that is by winning races,” Wimmer explained. “Chico is a great place for us to start as I have had success there in the past.”
The team will also be selling a Randy Frank designed shirt (above) with sales going to the Allard family, to help with expenses during this time.
Wimmer and Miller join a field of top teams at the Silver Cup Race of Champions coming to the Silver Dollar Speedway on March 8th, and 9th. Big money is on the line as the winged sprint car winner will receive $2,000 on Friday night and $3,000 on Saturday night.
Miller and Wimmer would like to thank, Dale Miller Plumbing & Septic, A.R.T., King Racing Products, Amerikote, Hangtown Sheet Metal, GUTS Racing, Frank’s Auto Body, and Smith Precision Products for their support in 2013.
