McKENZIE, TN – A pair of Australian drivers came out victorious last weekend in Sprint car action racing their way to victory lane aboard J&J Auto Racing Sprint cars. Ben Atkinson was victorious closing out the campaign at Sydney Speedway, while Brad Maiolo picked up his first victory of the season at Perth Motorplex.
SYDNEY SPEEDWAY
Ben Atkinson was the star of the night last Saturday at Sydney Speedway in the final Club Show of the season. Atkinson wheeled the No. 2 Pick N Payless sponsored J&J from the ninth-starting spot and roared to the front in just seven laps. The youngster proved to be the class of the field once he got to the front and was never challenged for the lead. His ability to work through lapped traffic was the key to victory.
PERTH MOTORPLEX
The enthusiasm of winning was present Saturday when night when youngster Brad Maiolo raced to victory in the Watson’s Express Transport Sprintcars division at Perth Motorplex. Maiolo raced the LJM No. 77 J&J from the seventh starting position and found himself in third for the final restart of the race. The youngster had the crowd on their feet when he moved from third to first on the restart. He would lead the rest of the way to score the popular victory.
“It’s definitely a good feeling that hasn’t happened for a long time,” admitted the winner. “We just found a groove on the last restart and we just went for it.”
