Tarlton Fifth on Treacherous Track

Tommy Tarlton was more then happy to score a fifth place finish on Saturday night at the Thunderbowl in Tulare, CA.

“The track was eating some racecars, and I was just glad I put the Corporate Lending America/Tachi Palace and Casino/Tarlton and Son machine in the trailer in one piece,” he said

With 19 cars checked in for the second Rebel Cup Series event of the season, Tarlton kicked his night off by timing the Bandy and Associates/Pro Signs/BG Lubricants backed entry in eighth fastest.

Starting on the outside front row of his heat, Tarlton bounced through a rut early in the race, and slipped back to the third spot, the position he would finish, and moved on to the feature event.

“The track was pretty crazy during heat races, and I knew it was going to be a wild feature,” he said. “My plan was to go out and try to make all the laps and roll it back in one piece,” he said.

Lining up seventh for the feature event, Tarlton stayed true to his plan as he played it safe and rolled around the bottom of the track, hoping to avoid catching a rut.

In a race that was marred by stoppages, for wrecks and fence repair, Tarlton played it safe, and scored his third fifth place finish in just three starts this year.

“I want to congratulate Rico Abreu on his win,” he said. “I have no idea how he put it on the fence for 20-laps and didn’t crash, that was impressive with the way the track was. I knew I would be smart to play it safe. There were only about 10 cars that finished, and I wanted to make sure I was one of them.”

Tarlton Racing would like to thank Corporate Lending America, Tachi Palace and Casino, Tarlton and Son, Bandy and Associates, Pro Signs, BG Lubricants, All Star Performance and Astro Titanium for their continued support.
