DJ Netto rallied from an early spin, and survived a late blown engine to score a second place finish on Saturday night in Tulare, CA with the Rebel Cup Series.

“It was a wild night, for us, but the race track was great, and we ended up with a second place finish,” he said.

With a disappointing car count on hand for the Rebel Cup Series’ third event, Netto still treated it like any other race night as he timed in sixth fastest on the slick track.

Starting sixth in the heat race, Netto was able to work forward and score a fourth place finish aboard his Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain/Bogies Auto Parts machine, putting him in the second row for the 30-lap feature event.

When the race got underway, Netto quickly went to the top of the track running right up against the fence in the fourth spot.

With the car in front of him brushing the wall, Netto quickly got on his binders hoping to avoid a potential wreck, and ultimately lost the handle, sending him to ninth.

Restarting ninth, Netto went back to the top shelf, and picked off car after car, until he got back to second, and set his sights on Dominc Scelzi.

Unable to chase Scelzi down, Netto came off of turn four and his engine expired, and he coasted across the finish line in the second spot.

“It was a little odd with such a light car count, be we focused on what we could do, and how to get our car better,” he said. “It was eventful for us spinning out, then getting back to second from ninth, and the engine blowing up coming to the checkers just made it that much more eventful.”

DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Bogies Auto Parts, and Vande Pol Enterprises for their support in 2013.
