McKENZIE, TN – J&J Auto Racing drivers Tim Shaffer, Derek Hagar and Daniel Pestka all scored Sprint car feature wins last weekend. Shaffer scored his first triumph of the season in Ohio, while Derek Hagar continued his early-season success with a victory in Tennessee. Australian youngster Daniel Pestka pocketed $6,000 for winning the Ross Wright 360ci Sprintcar Memorial.
FREMONT SPEEDWAY – TIM SHAFFER
Tim Shaffer helped Fremont Speedway open it’s 62nd season of racing last Saturday by putting on a show in the CH Motorsports No. 83 Kistler powered J&J. Shaffer started third and quickly battled Craig Mintz for the lead. Shaffer would seize command and race away to victory in the 30-lap main event.
“Hats off to these fans…it’s way too damn cold,” said Shaffer, in victory lane. “(Track Promoter Rich) Farmer and the guys did a great job…they gave us a great track. The car was amazing. I could go top, bottom, and through the middle. The CH Motorsports team has been awesome. It’s good to get a rebound and go for another championship.”
Danny Holtgraver raced the No. 45 J&J from seventh to fourth. DJ Foos started the Genzman Racing No. 53 J&J 13th and finished seventh. Caleb Helms was the fastest qualifier in the No. 40 J&J.
USCS – DEREK HAGAR
Derek Hagar is off to a tremendous start in United Sprint Car Series action this season. Hagar wheeled his No. 9Jr. Dynotech powered J&J from the pole position to victory lane Saturday night at Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, Tenn. He led every lap to capture his 13th career USCS triumph and led several J&J drivers to the finish.
Terry Gray (No. 10 J&J) started sixth and raced to third, while his teammate Morgan Turpen (No. 10m J&J) finished fourth. Marshall Skinner (No. 26 J&J) finished sixth, Jeff Willingham (No. 28 J&J) was eighth, Curt Terrell (No. 27 J&J) was ninth and Ray Bugg (No. 25 J&J) finished 10th to give J&J seven of the top ten finishers.
MURRAY BRIDGE SPEEDWAY – DANIEL PESTKA
Daniel Pestka earned another victory on Saturday by racing his No. 27 J&J to victory in the prestigious Ross Wright 360ci Sprintcar Memorial at Murray Bridge Speedway in Australia. The $6,000 triumph was one of the highest paying 360 races in Australia to be contested this season and the 21-year-old continued to impress by racing to the win.
