PETERSEN MEDIA

– One week after his Tarlton Racing team swept the weekend against the King of the West Series with Jason Meyers at the wheel, Tommy Tarlton climbed back aboard his Corporate America Investments/Tarlton and Son/Tachi Palace and Casino No. 21 machine and scored his second win of the year Friday night at the Ocean Speedway.

“I am having such a blast driving racecars right now,” Tarlton said. “I’ve only ran a handful of races so far this year, but each time out we have had a fast racecar, and I really cannot thank Paul Baines enough for all of his hard work in the shop, and all the guys who get out to the track and help us.”

Tarlton’s night got off to a quick start as he timed his Bandy and Associates/Pro Signs/BG Lubricants entry in with the third fastest lap during qualifications.

Starting in the second row of his heat race, the driver known as ‘The Terminator’, scored a third place finish, and would start the feature in the seventh spot, as the eight pill was drawn, inverting the eight fastest qualifiers for the feature.

When the race got underway, Tarlton climbed into the sixth spot as he chased after Steven Tiner in the fifth spot for the first handful of laps.

A lap eight red lined halted the event, and on the restart, Tarlton moved up into the fourth spot as he chased after race leader, Andy Forsberg, Shane Golobic, and Bud Kaeding.

Working up into the third spot at the halfway point, Tarlton continued to charge around the track, as she squeezed past Andy Forsberg on lap 25 to take over the second spot.

With Shane Golobic sitting in the lead, Tarlton made a huge move in turns three and four to get past Golobic, and take over the top spot on lap 26.

Out in front Tarlton was off and running as he went on to win the race by a little over one second.

“It was a very fun race to run,” Tarlton said. “This track draws in some of the best weekly competition, and it is awesome to get out here and win when we can.”

Tarlton Racing would like to thank Corporate America Investments, Tachi Palace and Casino, Tarlton and Son, Bandy and Associates, Pro Signs, BG Lubricants, All Star Performance and Astro Titanium for their continued support.
