Kansas City, KS — (June 4, 2013) — The World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series championship chase continues with the FVP Outlaws at Lakeside, hosted by Lakeside Speedway on Saturday.
Daryn Pittman holds a 157-point advantage over defending series champion Donny Schatz. Both drivers have claimed five feature victories this season, but Pittman is the only one to have a previous victory at Lakeside Speedway.
“There’s normally a good top and a good bottom,” he said. “You don’t lose a lot of speed. (The track) races bigger than it is. I’ve always enjoyed it. As long as they can keep two grooves in it, it’s neat to watch the speed from the top and bottom and how they equal out.”
Schatz has yet to pick up a victory at the wide half-mile oval, but has finished in the top 10 each of the past three seasons.
“It’s had its fair share of ups and downs for us,” he said. “We’ve always been there when NASCAR has been there and that’s neat to have that fan base there.”
Sammy Swindell, who is fourth in the championship points, has a series-best three victories at Lakeside Speedway along with 20-time champion Steve Kinser.
