From J&J
McKENZIE, TN – It was good to be driving a J&J Auto Racing Sprint car last weekend in western Pennsylvania. Young hot shoe Danny Holtgraver swept a pair of feature events at Mercer Raceway Park, while Brandon Spithaler came out victorious at Lernerville Speedway in a J&J.
LERNERVILLE SPEEDWAY
Brandon Spithaler dominated the 25-lap Sprint car feature last Friday at Lernerville Speedway. He started the No. 22 J&J third in the feature and quickly took command with a solid move in turns one and two to grab the lead. His run to victory was only slowed during a lap three caution. The J&J driver would lead the race from start to finish and claim his first victory at Lernerville.
MERCER RACEWAY PARK
Danny Holtgraver pulled off a rare sweep of action at Mercer Raceway Park, winning both the Patriot Sprint Tour event and the regular 410 Sprint portion of the show. His win in the Patriot event was behind the wheel of his family-owned No. D4 J&J backed by Kistler and it came in thrilling style.
The Pittsburgh native was forced to start at the read of the field after missing his heat because his team’s hauler was delayed in arriving. He was on the move from the beginning racing into the top-10 early and then by lap 20, he was in third. On the following lap, he surged into second and then grabbed the lead. He raced away to the win in the remaining laps.
After his win in the Patriot race, he was back in the No. 45 J&J and he was in control from the start. He opened a large lead and had only one scare, when a lapped car spun directly in front of him. Holtgraver led all 30 laps of the main event.
“We had an awesome car for getting just two hot laps,” said Holtgraver, discussing the No. D4 J&J. “We just made some good moves, and it was fun out there, and we were fortunate enough to start out front in the 410 deal. I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
