Wednesday night, Shane Stewart and his 3G Racing team took to the Kokomo Speedway to take on the World of Outlaws, and when the checkered flew on the action packed feature event, Stewart found himself taking home a second place finish.

‘That feature event was insane,” Stewart said. “We had a great car, but going four wide at times you could slip from first to fifth in a blink of an eye.”

With 42 cars on hand for the mid-week race at the Kokomo Speedway, Stewart laid down a great lap during time trials, and ended up fourth quickest.

Starting in the second row of his heat, Stewart was able to get his Gaerte Engines/All Star Performance/XYZ backed machine up into the second spot, and comfortably in the dash.

Starting fourth in the six-lap shootout, Stewart would hold the fourth spot, and lined up for the 40-lap feature in the second row.

When the race went green, Stewart jumped into the third spot as he chased after Tim Kaeding and Jason Sides, and move into the second spot on lap three.

On the fourth circuit, Stewart slid up in front of Kaeding, and took command of the race, as he began to run through lapped traffic.

On the 13th lap, Stewart went low to get around a slower car, but that gave Kaeding the opening he needed, and Stewart slipped back to the second spot.

A couple laps later, Stewart found himself in the third spot, as Kyle Larson made a daring move to overtake both front runners.

Running through heavy traffic, Stewart capitalized on a Larson miscue, and reclaimed the second spot as he chased after Kaeding.

With one final restart, Stewart stayed right with Kaeding, and on the last lap, made a final effort to grab the win, and came up just short, as Kaeding beat him to the stripe by just .18 seconds.

“That was a great race, and I just made a mistake there trying to get through traffic,” Stewart said. “We had an awesome car, and I just wish we could of won this deal, but we will take the second spot and look forward.”
