Continuing to build momentum with his Heffner Racing team, Lance Dewease scored a pair of top-five finishes over the weekend as he scored a third place finish Saturday night at the Lincoln Speedway before scoring a fourth place finish Sunday at the Bedford Speedway.
“It is no secret this hasn’t been the type of season we were hoping for, but there has been some good progress over the last few weeks, and it’s nice to put up a couple of top five finishes,” Dewease said.
With rain washing Williams Grove out, Dewease and the Heffner Racing team got to work on Saturday at the Lincoln Speedway.
Scoring a second place finish in his heat, handicapping placed Dewease and his Lelands.com/Conduit Connections/Pasquirellos Auto Shop entry in the fifth row for the 25-lap feature event.
When the race went green, Dewease was a rocket ship early, as he quickly began carving his way through the field.
Getting into the top five, by lap 10, Dewease continue to work forward as he chased after Brian Montieth as they flew through the field.
Moving into third on lap 17, Dewease rapidly closed in on Montieth, and new leader, Fred Rahmer, as they were in lapped traffic.
Over the final eight laps, Dewease did everything he could to get past the lead duo, but when the non-stop affair ended, it was Dewease on the final spot of the podium.
“We had a very fast racecar on Saturday night, and I wish we could have had a caution or two, to see what we had for Rahmer, and Montieth,” he said.
Sunday night the team headed to the Bedford Fairgrounds Speedway in Bedford, PA where the Fayetteville, PA driver put together another strong night of action as he crossed the checkered flag in the fourth spot.
