PETERSEN MEDIA

– Tommy Tarlton has not raced much in 2013. Strapping in just nine times to date, Tarlton has been dominant as he has racked up three wins, eight top-five’s and nine top-ten’s including taking the Pombo – Sargent Classic in Hanford, CA on Saturday night.

“Paul Baines continues to gives us a great car, and it feels awesome to get our third win in a row,” he said. “Other commitments has really forced myself to run a scattered schedule, but it is a blast when I’m able to.”

With 44 cars on hand for the California Civil War Series vs Rebel Cup Series event, Tarlton showed his speed early as he timed his Corporate America Investments/Tachi Palace and Casino/Tarlton and Son entry in sixth fastest.

Starting fifth in his heat race, Tarlton showed his veteran savvy around the King’s Speedway as he charged his way up to a second place finish, safely putting him in the feature event.

With the invert being a ‘10’, and the way heat races went, Tarlton found himself starting in the eighth spot for the feature.

When the feature got underway, the Easton, CA pilot quickly began working his way forward as he was soon inside the top-five.

Looking for more, Tarlton worked his way past Andy Gregg and Willie Croft, as he took over the second spot, and hounded leader, Dominic Scelzi.

On what was a near perfect track, Tarlton and the young Scelzi thrilled the crowd as they fought over the lead exchanging slide-job, after slide-job.

With all eyes glued to them, Tarlton, ‘The Midnight Rider’, would make a late pass, that Scelzi was unable to answer, and went on to win his third race of the season, and fourth Pombo Sargent Classic of his career.

“This was such a fun track to race on, and I really hope all the fans enjoyed that type of racing,” he said. “With how involved my father is in our team, it really feels nice to get a win for him on Father’s Day Weekend.”

Tarlton Racing would like to thank Corporate America Investments, Tachi Palace and Casino, Tarlton and Son, Bandy and Associates, Pro Signs, BG Lubricants, All Star Performance and Astro Titanium for their continued support.
