DODGE CITY, Kan. (June 19, 2013) –
While the track sits idle this weekend in preparation for two weekends of open wheel racing action, the United Rebel Sprint Series (URSS) takes to the track on Saturday night, June 29, with the World of Outlaws rolling into the town the following weekend for the Boot Hill Showdown on July 5-6.
Joined by the IMCA Modifieds, United Wireless IMCA Sport Modifieds and IMCA Stock Cars on June 29, the URSS Sprint Cars will more than adequately whet the appetite for the following weekend’s big show that brings in the world’s top Sprint Car drivers.
Reserved seating is going quickly for the Boot Hill Showdown with remaining reserved seats and general admission tickets available at http://dirtcar.ticketforce.
Advance tickets combos for both nights are available for $65 for reserved seats and just $50 for general admission. Single night tickets are $40 for reserved seats and $35 for general admission. Children’s tickets (12 and under) are $10 per night in general admission seating only.
Daryn Pittman currently holds the World of Outlaws point lead, although five-time and reigning champion Donny Schatz is gaining momentum with a pair of wins this past weekend to close the gap on the leader.
Last year’s Boot Hill Show Down was owned by the Kinsers with 20-time “King of the Outlaws” Steve Kinser holding off Sammy Swindell to top the opening night before son Kraig Kinser wired the field in the Boot Hill Showdown finale.
The URSS Sprint Cars have already made one visit to the DCRP oval this year with hometown driver Brian Herbert capturing his first win of the year after earning the series championship in 2012. Herbert is currently ranked fifth in URSS Sprint Car points with Ray Seemann out to the early lead.
In addition to URSS action on June 29, three of the championship chase divisions will be in action with Cody Gearhart (IMCA Modifieds), Jeff Kaup (United Wireless IMCA Sport Modifieds) and Billy Phelps (IMCA Stock Cars) leading their respective classes into the night as there has yet to be a repeat winner through five nights of competition in any of those divisions.
Tickets to the June 29 URSS card along with Modifieds, Sport Modifieds and Stock Cars are just $12, with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
The June 29 event goes green at 7:30 p.m., with racing action at the July 5-6 Boot Hill Showdown featuring the World of Outlaws firing off at 8:00 p.m. on both nights
In addition to the much anticipated World of Outlaws Boot Hill Showdown on July 5-6, 18 scheduled nights of action at Dodge City Raceway Park over the course of 2013 features several special events including the TORC Off Road Trucks in April, a pair of $1,200-to-win IMCA Modified tilts in July along with USAC Sprint Cars on August 23-24 and four rounds of URSS Sprint Car competition along the way.
Dodge City Raceway Park is located on the south edge of Dodge City, KS, on US 283, then 0.9 miles west on US 56, then 0.1 miles south. For more information, contact the track at 620-225-3277 or check www.dodgecityraceway.com.
