– Looking to back up his win last week in Reno, NV, Kyle Hirst came up just short as he scored a second place finish Saturday night at the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA.

An earlier start time was hard on the track, as an extremely slick track early in the evening threw a curveball at most of the teams, but Hirst was able to lay down a fast lap in time-trials, as he timed the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/3H Cattle machine in third quickest.

Settling for a second place finish in his heat race, the Sacramento, CA driver earned a birth in the dash, where the four pill put him in the second row.

Getting off to a strong start, the second-generation driver was able to work his way up to the second spot, putting him on the front row of the 30-lap main event, alongside Jonathan Allard.

With the track threatening to take rubber, Hirst was pointed to get the jump, and grab command of the race early, however, Allard beat him into turn one, and Hirst settled for the second spot.

Allard stretched out is advantage over the first seven laps, until he reached lapped traffic, and KH was able to close in on his rear bumper.

Trying everything he could, he was not able to get around him, until the caution flew on lap 13, butting them side-by-side again.

With Allard again getting off to a great start, Hirst stalked him over the second half of the race, as he threw everything in his repertoire at him, but simply did not have enough to get around him for the lead, as he settled with another second place finish.

“We had a great racecar, and I threw everything I had at Jonathan Allard,” he said. “It took rubber early, which we knew was going to happen, but he was just a little better than us. I have to thank my guys, and Dennis and Teresa Roth for everything they do, it was a good points night for us.”

Kyle and his Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, 3H Cattle, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance Center, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support.
