(Lebanon, IN) Spencer Bayston picked his seventh USSA Mel Kenyon Midget Series win on August 3rd at US 24 Speedway. The win ties him with Dillon Welch for the most wins in the USSA Mel Kenyon Midget Series.
Bayston jumped to the lead at the green flag from his starting position outside the front row. He quickly lost his advantage in turn one on the second lap when Kent Kriegbaum and Grant Simpson tangled, bring out the red flag. Neither Kriegbaum or Simpson were injured in the accident.
When the race resume Bayston began to stretch his lead from Cole Fehr and Travis Young. Fehr held of Young until the 12th lap when Young moved into the second slot. Fehr and young’s side b y side racing gave Bayston the room to pull out to a 4 second lead.
The race ran caution free following the 2nd lap incident. Jessica Bean returned from recovering from her July 12 accident to finish 4th and Cordy Horn complete the top five line-up.
The USSA Mel Ken Midget Series returns to action on Saturday Night August 10 at US 24 Speedway.
