Returning to the seat of the Joe Gaerte owned No. 3G, Shane Stewart looked to score at All Star win at the Butler Speedway on Saturday night, but a flat tire deflated those chances.

With 31 cars on hand, Stewart opened the night up by timing in sixth quickest, putting him in the third row of the second heat race.

Charging from fifth to third, Stewart earned both a trip to the feature event, and a berth in the night’s dash, where he started on the pole.

The outside was the place to be, and Dave Blaney got the jump on Stewart in the dash, and went on to win, with Stewart finishing in the second spot, and put himself on the outside for the feature event.

With the track in the same condition, Stewart was the beneficiary of being on the outside, and got the early jump over Blaney, and looked to have a very strong car.

In a feature that had a ton of cautions early on, the red flew on the eighth circuit, to allow teams to refuel their cars.

Lining back up to restart the feature, Stewart felt a tire go down, and pulled into the pit area just before the race went green, and his night was over, as he gave the lead up to Blaney.

“We seem to have the worst luck when we race together,” Stewart said. “We have been leading so many races, and have rotten luck. Joey (Gaerte) and his boys give me a great car every time I drive for them, and hopefully we can grab some wins with them very soon.”
